The Sort Scale System can help producers to track finishing pig weight progress accurately and to group finishing pigs automatically as they grow. The Sort Scale System also assists producers in sorting finishing pigs and planning ahead with packer schedules. This helps to maximize profits by taking advantage of packer carcass merit premiums for weight at the time of marketing. The Sort scale System is simple and consists of a weigh scale connected to a computerized controller. As a pig walks to the barn’s eating area, it enters the weighing scale where the controller reads the pig’s weight. After determining the animal’s weight, the controller automatically sorts hogs by opening a front door on the scale for the pig to exit either to the right or to the left according to weight.
